Where are you both from?
We were born and raised in New Jersey! All of our DollyMoo products are handmade with lots of love and good energy in West Orange, NJ, by my sister and I! We have a little workshop in our home.
How did the name DollyMoo originate?
Our Yiayia which means grandmother in greek used to call us DollyMoo. It's a term of endearment. We later found out that Moo(mou) in greek means "My" and in ancient Greek Dolly(Daalyi) means "Gift from God" so she was saying "My Gift from God." As a little girl we spelt it as DollyMoo so we decided to keep that spelling. It has a nostalgic feeling to us.
What are the main ingredients of your products?
We love oil! Most of our products are made with some sort of oil. It's magical for the skin!
Where are they sold?
Most of our products are sold online at www.DollyMoo.com. We are also carried at some local boutiques, salons and yoga studios.
How did you two decide to get into business together?
It kind of just happened organically. I started making the scrubs. Giving some out as gifts. The response was amazing! So my sister Amy joined forces with me! We started creating recipes together and it just evolved from there. Me, my sister and my sisters husband all chipped in $300 each. We ordered our ingredients, some jars, registered as an LLC and DollyMoo was born!

What are some new products that are launching this year?
We are working on some new healing butters! We think they'll be great for our yoga followers! We are making them with shea butter and some beautiful essential oils. They'll be great for headaches, muscles etc. We've been in the kitchen a lot the last few weeks!
Do you participate in any events?
We participate in a lot of events! We do high end Craft Shows. Pop-up shops at yoga studios. This summer we did a 4 day Yoga Festival in Vermont called Wanderlust. It was a huge success!

Any tips you can share with new business owners?
Don't give up! Keep going! The more you put into it the more you get back. Social media has been a huge help for us. I've also come to realize that you need to constantly be active for people to remember you. Emails, Facebook, Instagram. Interaction!
What was the most challenging part about starting your line?
I guess just getting the product out there. You really have to reach out to bloggers, magazines, etc. It's not going to just come to you. You need to work at it. You need to work hard. We are constantly trying to be noticed. We still do some craft shows, we recently did a pop up promotion at Lululemon which was great for us. Again, we just feel that we are constantly trying to get the product out there! We also donate a lot of baskets to charity:)
